Week 1: Wind Power!

Hello from our first week on the road! We are exploring the concepts of renewable energy in the form of wind power.  We built the base of a wind turbine and inserted a small hobby motor and wired it up to a multi-meter to get an electrical output. The day campers were tasked with designing and testing their own prop and wind turbines. They attached their prop designs to our base and saw how effective they were at creating renewable energy by reading the voltage output.  The blades were tested by blowing a fan on them and by using the wind outside as well also.  The youth had a great week and we were BLOWN AWAY by their designs and how effective they were!  Because this was our first week out…no photo permissions were in place.  Check back for more pictures in the weeks ahead!
