Mechanical engineer

Mechanical engineers are inventive people who research, develop and build machines that help others. Mechanical engineers are involved in the design of:

  • CD players
  • Nintendo and Sega game wear
  • Snowmobiles
  • Rocket engines
  • Off-road vehicles
  • Robots for manufacturing plants
In your community:

On the road to self-sufficiency and self-government, the skills of Native mechanical engineers will be needed to solve problems related to the management of natural resources; forestry machinery; fishing and fish processing; small manufacturing and industrial development.

As a mechanical engineer you could:

  • Adapt vehicles so they function better and have less impact on the environment
  • Work with your band council to determine what kind of public works vehicles your community requires
  • Design air conditioning and other systems required for new schools and clinics

If you like...

  • Problem solving
  • Being creative
  • Building things
  • Mechanics
  • Working with tools
  • Drawing
  • Helping people

...then perhaps you will like Mechanical Engineering..
