AAE at Little Native Hockey League tournament

Melanie was in Mississauga over the March Break at the Little Native Hockey League (LNHL) tournament. In the 44 year history of the tournament, the 178 teams that participated set a record. Last year Melanie attended LNHL and brainstormed a youth outreach initiative that, one year later, came to be our Hockey Project.

AAE at Gathering Our Voices 2015

Check out these photos from the Gathering Our Voices youth conference, held March 18-20 at Prince George, British Columbia. Over 1000 young Native people were in attendance to learn about career and education opportunities, all while experiencing and sharing in the Aboriginal culture of Western Canada.

Just as you step outside the doors of the Prince George airport, you come upon this mural.

STEM Outreach End-of-Summer Video

A week or so after our summer outreach team ended their work with AAE, we received this email from Alyssa:

Stories from the road: Cape Croker

Stories from the road: Golden Lake

Stories from the road: Tyendinaga

Stories from the road: Saugeen

Stories from the road: Wasauksing

Stories from the road: Six Nations

Hi everyone, this is Gillian from the AAE team. This weekend Sabrina and I attended the Six Nations ‘Champion of Champions’ pow wow on the Grand River. This pow wow was absolutely huge! We talked to so many people, saw familiar faces, and met many new friends as well.

Stories from the road: Whitefish Lake

This weekend Melanie and I visited the Atikameksheng Anishnawbek pow wow on Whitefish Lake. It was easily one of the most beautiful pow wow grounds we have seen this summer; the grounds were right next to the beautiful lake, and the road to the grounds was long and winding.
